On June 26, 2013, Hernandez was taken out of the house by police and handcuffed and detained in prison.  Patriots fired Hernandez from the team about 90 minutes later, before officially knowing the charges against him. Their press release said: A young man was murdered last week and we shared our sympathy with family and friends who mourned their loss. Don’t Be A Salty Bitch shirt. Words cannot express disappointment because we feel that one of our players has been arrested for the result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations on this issue are underway. We support their efforts and respect this process. At this point, we believe that firing him is the right thing to do. 
Later that day, Hernandez was accused of first-degree murder,   and five more gun-related charges:  he was detained without bail at Bristol county jail. Two other men were also arrested in connection with Lloyd’s death: Carlos Ortiz, on June 27, 2013, and Ernest Wallace on June 28, 2013.   Ortiz revealed to police that Hernandez had secretly rented an apartment in Franklin, Massachusetts. According to the Associated Press, a search for the next apartment, “triggered ammunition and clothing that police believe could be evidence of a murder case against him.
